Transport Travel Tips for Beginners
Flying around the world can be daunting for first time travellers. There’s so much advice out there, from booking flights early, to planning outfits beforehand or taking multiple forms of identification. But most importantly, what about your travel options on land?
Yes it can be easy to book your flights, but what about your transport when you aren’t in the air? It is important to know what you are catching, riding or driving in each city, and there’s even more to consider with all the different options out there for each country.
Parking
First things first, park your car at a secure location with high surveillance to avoid any pre-travel jitters. Luckily Space Shuttle Carpark has all your transport needs covered, located 500m from the domestic terminal and 1km away from the International terminal. Our on demand Airport Shuttle simply picks you up from the carpark and drops you and your luggage off at the terminal hassle free.
On land
Book a taxi, Lyft or Uber when exploring big cities that have tourist attractions spread across long distances. For example, London and Tokyo are large locations best explored by hiring a car or a driver for optimal convenience. Other than walking, cycling is the next best option for tight knit tourist hubs that allow for more stress-free scenic route options. Cities like Germany and Amsterdam are known for their cycling tracks so it’s always good to do your research beforehand for bike hire. Public transport is the riskiest option when visiting a new country or city unless it is a chartered train or bus. For first time travellers we advise against this option to avoid getting lost or stressed.
On water
Travelling to islands and beaches is best done on a cruise for that 2 in 1 scenic experience. Always look at any day cruises exclusively available in your location to never miss the fun. Norway, South America and Greece are just a handful of countries where you can only access certain areas or beaches via boat. Ensure you book ahead of time and opt out of last minute decisions since boating is the trickiest travel option to get a ticket for due to popular demand.
Finally, when the plane lands at the airport, catch our Airport Shuttle back to your freshly washed car waiting for you at the carpark in Mascot whilst marvelling at all the amazing scenic travels you experienced from your trip.
